The idea of Egyptian Vascular Club was invented in June 1999.
At that time vascular surgeons in Egypt were very few with no dedicated independent vascular surgery society as this specialty was still a branch from general surgery.
Every university at that time was trying to have its own society which made a kind of conflict and competition. For that reason three independent vascular surgeons decided to start by a vascular club, not related to any society to avoid any influence or conflicts in any kind. This idea was initiated by Dr Khaled Abdel AAl supported by Dr Tarek Radwan (RIP) from army forces and doctor Nabil Almarasy (RIP) from Alazhar university.
The whole plan was to create an independent club gathering most of the vascular surgeons specially the younger ones. The idea was to give opportunity to young surgeons to give presentations and to share their opinion and their experience with local expert vascular surgeons.
Another purpose was to make a conference every year treating only one subject. This subject is fully discussed from all different points and assembled in a book to be the core of the first Egyptian vascular surgery.
library the board was then expanded by big names like Dr Ali Morad and Dr Essam Elkady.
The first gathering of the club was in 2000 with publishing of the first book in Egyptian vascular library it was in titled : Peripheral Vascular Disease
After that time the club become bigger year after year with a rotatory leadership and real team work in order to maintain its purpose.
Another big names took over and succeeded to maintain this idea alive like Dr Mostafa Soliman, Dr Naser Elsaeid, Dr Mohamed Omar Elfarouk and Dr Adel Elkamhawy
